Intercessory Prayer Ministry, “Circle of Prayer”
Joyce Glenn has organized the
Circle of Prayer, an intercessory prayer ministry. These volunteers pray
daily for those on the St Luke’s prayer list.
Anyone can be included in this prayer circle by requesting to be added for
the month by writing down the name and concern in the Circle of Prayer Log
by the church door. The intercessors may pray alone or together,
respecting confidentiality and the privacy of those for whom they pray. |
Rector's Message*
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Psalm 100:1a
I am pleased to report the imminent delivery and installation of a three manual Allen digital organ to replace our current instrument. In this column I would like to explain some of the changes you may expect in our weekly worship and the particular advantages of the instrument that has been selected. Major problems have arisen during the last few years concerning the continuing cost and general inability to obtain parts and satisfactory service for our current two manual organ. These concerns have been detailed in my annual reports for at least the past five years. The Allen Organ Company is headquartered in Macungie (near Allentown) Pennsylvania, and maintains parts and service for every instrument they have ever built. Just having this guarantee of dependability for any situation that may arise was a significant factor in our decision. A second concern has always been the quality of sound generated with our current instrument. The sound is trapped because all the audio components are contained within the old pipe chamber. This means that the amplifiers and speakers have to be driven at levels which distort the quality of the sound and give it a harsh, unpleasant edge. Custom ordering an audio system to be housed outside the pipe chamber will allow the organ to be voiced at a level that will present a much more acceptable tone quality and will allow the digitalized voices to speak with the resonance and beauty of the original handmade pipes.
